This operating system was codenamed "Sonata" and was originally planned to be debuted as Mac OS 8.7. Remote Access Personal Server 3.5, including support for TCP/IP clients over. Mac OS 9 is the ninth and last major release of Apple's classic Mac OS operating system.

The final updates to Mac OS 9 addressed compatibility issues with Mac OS X while running in the Classic Environment and compatibility with Carbon applications.
This is achieved through running Mac OS 9 without access to its Finder inside OS X. (This model was eventually terminated in late 2004.) It contains CPU version 5.9, Mac ROM 10.2.1, DiskCopy 6.5b13, the older DriveSetup 1.5.2 for compatibility, and other custom variations that are discussed over at their forum.
